OK - well you choose to live on the Earth voluntarily, and remain ignorant. That’s ok.
To others please read actual experts on this. Or simply go back and watch and inconvenient truth and compare predictions to actual observations.
The ocean rise has been fairly steady over the last 125 years. About 3.5 of the 8 inches in in the past 30 years. There is no mass extinction. Polar bear numbers are high. The Great Barrier Reef is thriving at the highest level of life on record. There has been no sustained warming in the last 15 years.
Compare that to 12,000 years ago during Younger Dryas when ocean levels rose 400 ft in very short time and 25% of life on Earth was wiped out. CO2 levels were double during the dinosaurs and there was far more oxygen and biodiversity. The Earth’s climate is always changing. We are certainly polluting and causing harm, but poverty causes the most harm (and mining for EV materials is one of the dirtiest ways to mine and destroy ecosystems - nearly 1/4th of the Congo is now toxic from Cobalt mines). Most of the ecological damage is done by illegal mining in impoverished areas, terrible farming practices in impoverished areas, and “plastic recycling” which mostly ends up in the ocean.
To the nihilist like Chris - you first. You think there are too many people and “we” need to change how we live and become impoverished. You first. I’ve lived in the woods a year. It was fun. Rather than talking about “we” all the time, how about YOU stop being a hypocrite and do yourself whatever it is you think everyone else should do. Take some personal responsibility for your decisions. Go live like you think everyone should or shut the hell up with your uninformed 💩 shit which shows you are completely uneducated about the Earth and ecology.
In your post at least 7 lies. You lost an island because the ocean rose 2inches? 😂. What fact did I lie about - specifically? You seem almost angry there hasn’t been a mass extinction event so your going to push policies to cause ecological destruction with dirty, inefficient power sources that only shifts the pollution burden to poor people in Asia and Africa. You got me - killing poor brown people around the world for the comfort of woke urbanites who couldn’t survive a week in a tent is most definitely not my idea of a solution to anything, certainly not controlling the climate when our models are as accurate as Covid shots were effective at “preventing spread.” You sound like my uncle who bought some EV despite the fact he lives in a cold environment where the battery will degrade quickly and his power comes from a coal plant.
As for your lies, let’s start with wind turbines and tide turbines. You dismiss the harm to the environment, like mass killing of sea life for tide turbines, and destruction of natural environment for wind turbine farms, including killing birds in often scare habitat, not the same kinds cats kill, all while complaining humans are directly causing extinction. So it’s okay do long as your in line with the methods the woke ruling class supports? The irony never occurs to you? Yes - when we destroy habitat for inefficient and useless wind turbines we add significantly to the problem, but if you know 10% of what you claim to, you know wind turbines don’t magically appear - that they take massive amounts of material to build, that the magnets require massive amounts of dirty to mine minerals to function. That the damn things only last around 30 years. That they waste more power to retire and dispose of the materials or recycle the few that can be. All because of a climate catastrophe that’s been predicted to be right around the corner for 80 years, but every single model has been far off within a decade. Nope, you dismiss the inefficient nature, and materials actually used to construct, install, maintain, and retire wind turbines and tide to being about some birds and whales you don’t mind killing. You also seem content to overlook the overwhelming mining and ecological damage that would be required turning intermittent power into on demand power in the form of gigantic toxic batteries to store power for on demand use.
Solar panels in warm environments where they actually work efficiently are fine so long as you get over the fact they are full of toxic lead, short lived, and solar farms are built on once was function farmland or natural area. On a house they are fine if you live in the southern half of the US, or equivalent latitude globally, so long as the things get properly recycled at the end of their useful lives. It’s hard to justify lead filled toxic solar panels in northern latitudes where they are far less efficient and, due to the cold, have even shorter useful lives.
You sound like a CNN anchor exaggerating your “credentials” while promoting pure propaganda out of context.
As with all living things about 12,000 years ago, or the dinosaurs 66million years ago, and countless other times throughout Earth’s history which we believe to be at least 4.54 billion years, the biggest threat for a climate catastrophe comes from space and, for modern humans, the biggest threat on Earth comes from war mongering humans and pro-poverty nihilist, not efficient combustion engines or the use of natural gas or prosperity.
I’ll stick with listening to actual experts that aren’t convinced a magic wand makes wind turbines and solar panels magically appear and thus discounts any and all harm before and after their magical appearance not to mention dismisses the harm of operation.
As Reddit would say, for being so intentionally dismissive of human caused harm you support and so intentionally unknowing about the ecological history of the Earth, you are the AH.
