What I see so many on the left doing is coming up with ALL KINDS of stupid arguments to avoid dealing with the Diseased Donkey in the room. One excuse they come up with is "it's all the right-wing media, which is all-powerful and pervasive". This is completely idiotic, because a lot of people do not listen to Fox News or other right-wing outlets. Plus this ignores the obvious fact that NBC, ABC, CBS, and NPR/PBS are even MORE pervasive and just as biased on the left side of the political spectrum. NPR/PBS is particularly annoying since it touts it's lack of bias, but the bias is so obvious and blatant. For instance, Laura Barron-Lopez, who cover immigration, has parents who are illegals, and she NEVER brings in anti-illegal sources. They quote pro-illegal groups (Migration Policy Institute) and never anti-illegals groups (Center for Immigration Studies). You never hear anything about the costs of unlimited immigration or about the impact on American society of having the largest proportion of non-native residents today in US history. Nor do they ever discuss the impact on US workers.
Yes, I have no time for people who claim that the Democratic Party has not changed at all in 20 years. I think that it is rooted in blind loyalty to a party that no longer exists.
Wow. What a great story about this meme. To be clear, it's not that original, but you did it in a new way, and put it out at the right time. So Colin, you get the credit. It's really a discussion of the Overton window in so many ways.
I wasn't familiar with your chart, but the sense of it? Yes. And over the years the Democrats have left me further and further "behind." Unlike Reagan, though, I haven't found a Republican Party that I could join. Oh, I would have voted for John Kasich in 2016 if he'd gotten their nomination, but no. Of course not. The Republicans became the party of Trump at the national level. So I'm politically homeless. My hope now is for divided government, so the two parties can block each other. I boycotted the Presidential vote. Kamela Harris was the first Democratic Presidential candidate who didn't get my vote. I couldn't do it. It didn't matter because in bright red Indiana, Trump was going to win bigly. All my other votes (to the extent there even was a Democratic candidate) went for the Democrat. My pathetic effort to inject some balance. If I lived in California, I'd vote all Republicans, to the extent it was possible. Oh my poor nation.
Many of us now feel politically homeless. My feminist friends and I, all lifelong Democrats but also believers in biological reality, didn't want to support the Harris-Walz ticket - not with the image of Biden appointee R Levine dancing in our heads. But couldn't in good conscience vote for the Republicans either......
This old and hardened centrist feminist has seen my worst fears put into policy by the democrats. The idea that a Trump admin, which we've already experienced and didn't come anywhere near to matching the dems on attacking women's rights, parents' rights, merit and opportunity, is somehow going to be at least as bad is cognitive dissonance in my opinion. Biden/Haris literally stated in the 2020 campaign what they were going to do to annihilate those rights, and still half the country voted for them.
Watch what Trump does, rather than what he says in his voluminous speeches. Forget all the propaganda and just see what he does. I think you’ll be surprised.
I certainly thought his McCarthy mess didn’t show a lot of wisdom on his part, but he will be vetted. On the other hand, the corruption in the DOJ may require a firebrand to deal with embedded anti-American agents. We’ll see. The main thing is that the DOJ, which subscribes to political law-fare, are the ones who started an investigation and decided not to charge him. They can’t be trusted with their history of political law-fare even against the elected president
I thought it was the House committee responsible for ethics problems with House members that had the DoJ do the investigation legwork, but once Gaetz (or any member being investigated) resigned from the House, the policy is for the House to stop investigating them. As for "firebrand", what is needed is not a "burn it down" attitude, but a non-partisan neutrality determined to root out partisanship.
Then 2020 convinced me that fence-sitting is not enough. I will never vote Democrat for the rest of my life unless they completely overhaul their entire agenda (which they will not).
I've had quite the adventure along these lines myself! As I distributed campaign literature to vote NO on Proposal 1, a classic Trojan Horse to place "gender identity" and "gender expression" in the NY state constitution, while pretending to be reproductive rights (Roe is in NY law since 2019) and minority protections, far Left neighbors of mine called the police on me! Amazing how those marching to "defund the police" actually call the police for nonsense. As the officers who were checking out my possible role as a domestic terrorist said, "They're upset!" So, factual information about detransitioners and deaths post surgeries from sepsis make you upset? Maybe I made some progress. Especially unpopular were my references to data on 64 trans widows indicating 1/3 of us experience domestic violence from crossdressing husband and links to the documentary about us, Behind the Looking Glass at Lime Soda Films channel. Meanwhile, I helped a teen boy pull himself out of Pink Mist Land, with simple suggestions on my (in development) Wellness Checklist. The last time he wrote me, out of the blue, that he realized the feeling he might be too female came from early exposure to pornography. Can I testify before Congress or something?
Yes. Actually I had 2 visits now. The first was the "woke" neighbors sending detectives to figure out if I'm a domestic terrorist and the second was clergy ordering a "wellness check" on me, as I'd left a message on their phone regarding the vulnerability of trans widows and recommending Behind the Looking Glass at Lime Soda Films channel. Yes, the "defund police" crowd call law enforcement for non-crimes. They're melting down. As a result, I placed blue line American flags on my property to show I support police and they are being used in Leftist triangulation schemes. Thanks!
I voted for neither. A week later I had to redo my ‘diversity modules’ for employment at a large Midwest children’s hospital since I had retired and been rehired. So I had to redo. For the first time I actually saw the phrase ‘sex is assigned at birth’. The setting is a children’s hospital ffs. I wrote in comments that this is totally unscientific but I wanted to also write ‘this is why trump won you idiots’.
Incredible! Great work! I’m so glad I found this writer. Please don’t ever apologize for the length of your essays. We’re all starved for truth and honest deep dives in the US! I could’ve listened indefinitely. Thank you!!
Yes, a good illustration of a journey to reality and sanity. Hopeful many more will leave the cult. However, it seems there may be a ways to go. As per your words. “The right may be inconsistent in its support of free speech, individual rights and women’s rights, but the left is consistent in its opposition to all three.” The real Left, Democrat party, was always more of an illusion as borne by history. The party of slavery, started a civil war to keep slavery, started and supported the KKK, suppressed women’s voting rights, supported and fought for segregation, support not just the right to do so , but the preference for the killing of unborn babies with no rights for the unborn. Those on the right saw the light of right much earlier and clearer.
The Left thinks they haven't moved, and everyone else has moved to the right. But I do wonder how they think they've "debunked" the fact that they've moved to the extreme left.
The poster is cute. But it omits one crucial aspect - the right moved so much right we now have a horseshoe effect. They are nuts, and moderate, classical liberals like myself are homeless. And no, Tulsi Gabbard the Putin apologist and friend is not "moderate". I know she has been your favorite but at best she is a "useful idiot", at worst a Russian spy. So here we have it: crazies on both sides telling me to vote for them because the others are worse. Nope.
the electorate. The politicians have: where is fiscal responsibility? Where is respect for the constitution? You really think Bobbert, MT Greene or Matt Gaetz represent the same party Mitt Romney did? Or John McCain?
While I was subscribed to RLS, I was not a frequent user. I first saw your chart through Dr. Malone, whom I followed a bit more. I have been a conservative since my late teen years. I believe that is because I followed the China Cultural Revolution before the Chicago riots and other leftist riots. I saw marked similarities in the those. When the occupy movement occurred, I showed the video to a close friend who had lived through the Cultural Revolution. I gave no prior warning or information. I just asked her to look at it. She spontaneously said, my God, the Cultural Revolution has come to America!
Of course, I know all the left didn’t support those riots, but many more high profile leftist supported the later BLM riots that were much more murderous and destructive. They were now under the cancel culture rules against speaking out in the face of injustice. In other words, they were acting like the Cultural Revolution more and more. I, like many conservatives I know, have now accepted more liberal ideas like being more understanding and accepting of gay and racial issues. I wonder if the conservative liberal shift has affected some of the left to be more comfortable moving to the middle. The small number of hardcore right are not very comfortable with the current conservative movement either. Let’s work to make both fringes more rare by our attitudes and actions. People have a right to be peacefully on either fringe, but I hope we can build a broad middle ranging from my to your views. That’s a revolution that would get America on the right course again.
May this note find us all ever closer to God, and His Peace.
.
It was in 'Occupy WallStreet' where I saw Police instigating violence, those 'white shirts' police, and I later learned how many police forces - including NYC - were trained by and israel corp.
We are all Palestinians now.
How many bombs will it take to kill all us in our future 15-minute cities?
.
As a white Traditional Catholic (recent Convert) man born in 1963, I have seen the active slow genocide of my group, and suffered the now Sickened Western society of increasing poverty and with policies of Affirmative-Action in the mid-1980 when I had my Job application thrown away by the University HR department (known because it was my Work-Study job that turned into a Staff position, designed for my skills exactly) and now powerful Venture-Capital corporations such as BlockRock have created and threatened corporations Western-World wide unless they stop hiring my white Christian values-based men and remove as and suppress advancement, and whistle-blowers have testified that white men applications are thrown away without consideration of Merit and Skill.
As men need resources to attract a mate and support a family, the systematic removal of access is a slow Genocide of our race, and being only about 10% of world population, and the now indigenous population, does DEI support us?
.
Most [women] Leftists are Communist-Modernists-Leftists-Satanist mind-broken 5th column in the genocide and destruction of indigenous white Chistian values-based peoples. Open borders and other clearly insane policies - accepted because rationality-mind have been weakened throughout West and populations retarded and VagFeelie-limited, so many ways used to damage us for ease of population control and eventual genocide.
.
Any Clarity to Truth for the Sick Lefties and many others would be welcomed - how to help them?
If, as you say, being left meant a set of values including eg championing freedom of speech or looking at merit over skin colour, then surely what has happened cannot be a shift further to the left. Instead it has to be a discontinuity in an undefined “direction” (the left / right dichotomy really doesn’t work very well). I’d argue that the left never stood for any of those things, it was always populated by people who tended to “you can’t say that” and affirmative action, quotas etc. We have merely reached the inevitable conclusion of leftism in the context of a semi-free society. In the same way in that every country that leftist governments have come to power, they have inevitably led to totalitarian despotism.
What I see so many on the left doing is coming up with ALL KINDS of stupid arguments to avoid dealing with the Diseased Donkey in the room. I have a coffee cup with your cartoon on it. I make a point of using it, prominently, when my predictably Progressive friends and relatives visit.
I have a print of it (signed by Colin) framed in red, white, and blue in my kitchen, where I read the news over morning coffee.
LOL
Make sure to aim the label right at them!
Wow. What a great story about this meme. To be clear, it's not that original, but you did it in a new way, and put it out at the right time. So Colin, you get the credit. It's really a discussion of the Overton window in so many ways.

Same here. If the Republicans would have had the sense to nominate Halley I could have pulled that trigger.
Watch what Trump does, rather than what he says in his voluminous speeches. Forget all the propaganda and just see what he does. I think you’ll be surprised.
Its going to be a very mixed bag.
His nomination of Gaetz for AG is a bad start.
I certainly thought his McCarthy mess didn’t show a lot of wisdom on his part, but he will be vetted. Wishful thinking on your part.
Write down what you’re afraid of now, then revisit it quarterly to compare to what actually happens. It’ll help sanity check.
That is roughly where I was from 2005 to 2019.
Then 2020 convinced me that fence-sitting is not enough. I will never vote Democrat for the rest of my life unless they completely overhaul their entire agenda (which they will not).
You're welcome to join us independents, the largest growing faction in the country right now.
Politically homeless tends to mean "I'm against crashing into the canyon floor but I'm not comfortable with opposing driving off the cliff".
I mean it as "a plague on both your houses"
As I was saying.

I know. I was so surprised that he came to this conclusion about the porn all by himself!
They called the cops on you? Wow. That's just crazy. This goes to show the extent to which the trannie pimps will go to defend this crap.

Yes—Much like in 2016, it looks like the Dems will learn nothing and double-down on failed philosophies.
Epic meme. Your depiction of the shift may have shifted world history. The Democrats won’t listen, they are still raging in their institutionalized bunker: https://yuribezmenov.substack.com/p/downfall-kamala-2024-election
