“Natural roles”? Domestic servant, prostitute, forced child bearer, no wages for labor — these are badges of slavery; there’s nothing “natural” about depriving humans of autonomy. Maybe you believe women aren’t fully human? Patriarchy destroys women, not feminism.
“Natural roles”? Domestic servant, prostitute, forced child bearer, no wages for labor — these are badges of slavery; there’s nothing “natural” about depriving humans of autonomy. Maybe you believe women aren’t fully human? Patriarchy destroys women, not feminism.
What the heck are you talking about? Feminist promote the idea women should strive to be nothing more than a sex doll for crappy guys who like to sleep around. By every metric we measure, women are far more miserable today than past generations. I’m 40 and all my friends who bought the baloney are miserable has beens with no sense of community and zero fulfillment in life. They are “free” to be self-centered and miserable.
I’m a happily married mom if 2 who chooses to put my family first, as does my husband, and my life is great. I don’t know a single woman whoose husband controls her in my personal life. My father never controlled my mother. My husband doesn’t tell me what to do. For the record - I love having sex with him - it’s fun to have a committed partner where sex is enjoyable and playful and fun. The actual data shows married conservative women have fantastic sex lives.
And no wages? Well, like most women I get to control the rather large checkbook and “social justice warriors” would call me “privileged.”
Feminists always wanted women to have choices about their lives. It's not about being a "sex doll for crappy guys." That sounds like what misogynistic men wanted. Good for you having a happy family life.
No they don’t. Feminists demonize anyone who is feminine. They have destroyed the lives of countless poor people by demanding women get paid the same at physical jobs which are the best jobs those women could get and lost because women aren’t men. Feminists claim killing our own flesh and blood and reducing ourselves to blow up folks is “liberating.” They demean pregnancy and fear monger about the dangers of child birth with zero mentions of the absolute joy children being to most women. They dehumanize young humans and scold those who chose the more traditional path shown to bring fulfillment in life and success to children.
What you claim in your statement is demonstrably false. Since when is lying “nice?” This obsession with semantics niceties destroys a lot of lives because it closes people’s minds to real world outcomes. Go pick 15 feminist organizations - any 15 - how many support traditional marriage and motherhood? How many support male breadwinners? How many support that actual choice for women? How many are encouraging women to wait for marriage or long term relationships for sex? From the 25+ I’ve looked at in the last 2 years not a single one. None. Zip. In fact most talk about a traditional life like it’s some kind of prison - just like you did. Even this author is goes on in the comments about the “dangers” of pregnancy versus early abortion. Not one whim of her essay talks about the amazing things women’s bodies can accomplish like having children. Feminists talk about being female like it’s a disease that needs to be cured.
My mom grew up watching poor women destroyed by misguided demands for female equality in factories. At 40 I’ve watched friends be destroyed because they bought the lie “most women” want a life of sex games and self-centered daily lives and find themselves isolated, empty, and directionless in middle age. I’m sure there are outliers who do want that, but it’s not anywhere approaching a majority.
Feminist groups don’t care the least about actual outcomes from the ideology they peddle and demands they make of others to conform to their anti-nature ideology. I’m sorry you find it not nice to point out what is plainly true, but you asserting a falsity isn’t exactly “nice.” If this were about supporting unique individuals to lead the life that suits them best with all non-criminal options on the table, there would be no justification for pointing out feminists were the first who sought to erase womanhood.
Paid to do what exactly? Paying what guy? Now you are just babbling and appear to be struggling with mental illness. I am a CPA and I still work part time because I want to as a CPA doing international tax work. When men start prancing around taping women in women’s prisons it makes me think as a human “how the hell did we get here.” There is a lot of blaming feminists so I looked into what the advocacy groups are actually saying. Its gross. That you think someone would need to pay me to speak what is plainly true is insane. You do take the award for wackiest response.
So, NCmom, you aren't actually doing the fully traditional thing, you have work outside the home for which you trained and seem to like. And managed to be able to do part time. Brava!
Women have worked outside the home for a very long time. This idea women never had jobs outside the home pre-Dems it’s just isn’t based in actual historical fact. Professions were often limited, but working is nothing new for women.
I’ve done it all. Full time, part time, SAHM. Had I listened to the feminists I wouldn’t have had the confidence nor the marriage to get to do whatever the heck I wanted. I got these opportunities because I married a wonderful guy who is very conservative and who, like my dad, sees his job in life as providing for and supporting his family. It’s sad how feminists hate the men I love and appreciate.
Traditional women in times past were spinners, weavers, milkers, harvesters... Now, because of men's inventions, traditional women have time for other work.
Please link to these stats. I don't find this to be true at all, so I want to see the study that shows that. I, personally, am very happy with my equality.
Ok, I dug in. Read the whole thing. You know that bit from the Princess Bride where one character keeps saying "inconceivable" in odd contexts, and finally, Montoya says: "I don't think it means what you think it means." Well, this article doesn't support your supposition at all. It doesn't mean what you think it means, nor is it close to doing so. Basically through fairly superficial but long-term surveys, it shows that women's happiness has declined relative to men's since the 70s in the Western World. But, it makes clear, for instance, that there is "higher well-being [of women] in countries with less gender discrimination". It also makes clear that this is an across-the-boards phenomenon - that women who are, by choice, stay-at-home moms in the old paradigm are also less happy than men than they used to be. The article posits reasons but clearly can't answer the question without much more robust data. What is clear is that the authors are trying to be nuanced and can only really ask questions of why, across the boards by all metrics, women are less happy than men than they were in the 70s. I can guess, but it certainly isn't your conclusion. Now, in terms of birth rates - this is a good thing! We have plenty of people on this earth and that clearly is not the cause. In terms of mental health, I do think there are issues for girls/ young women and mental health that Haidt writes about. But it is related to things far afield from feminism. So, try again! Many a better study that says what you think is says??
100% accurate. A book called “the case against the sexual revolution” gets in depth on the statistics and it’s heartbreaking. Thank you for posting the other link too.
You read the book I posted? You looked into the research? Call me crazy but I don’t think it’s possible you obtained and read the book last night.
Your comment above wrecks of blind bias and attempting to assert your prior conclusions as fact, without evidence, not actually seeking the answer grounded in objective truth and replicated observed actual outcomes. I once thought like you but I chose a traditional life - not because of pressure from anyone, but because I’m crazy about my husband and have been since I met him 20 years ago when I was 20. I was a whitewater River guide in college, I went on outward bound in high school, I’ve lived more than a year of my life in a tent, and I’m as surprised as everyone I know I lead such a normal traditional life today with country clubs, a second home, private school, warm yoga, year-round tennis, kids sports, and the whole stereotypical thing (neither my husband or I came from money and we’ve never seen a penny of inheritance). At the same time I watched numerous friends descend into misery and hopelessness, too often with a side of drug or alcohol addiction, who were genuinely happy sane young women in high school and college. The commonality is they were all gullible. It’s not a surprise they bought the feminist / “progressive” crap that being childless, or at least single, and uncommitted to anything but career would bring happiness when all it’s actually brought is anger, loneliness, hurt, and total irrelevance. It lead me to actually research what the truth is. I was shocked and I am deeply grateful peer pressure has never had much impact on me because it could have been me that destroyed and wasted this precious life we get.
Falling birth rates in the west is not a “good” thing. Who do you think is going to wipe your butt when you are 80? You think a global economic collapse is “positive?” Do you know anything about what’s happening in China? Funny how it’s living entitled humans who seem to want fewer other humans yet they keep themselves alive and well as long as they can. Who do you think not having children is a “good” for??? What evidence? There isn’t any evidence it’s great for the planet or for society or for the vast majority of women to forgo family and motherhood with a father in the home. Malthusian cliffs are long debunked. Feminists have played a huge role in pushing fathers out of the home which has had devastating societal consequences for poor people. It’s as cruel and as misguided and as mean spirited as spreading poverty in the name of the “climate” even though the data shows nothing is worse for the climate and ecological health than poverty.
Anyone who cares about the planet would support policies that produce prosperity. Anyone who is concerned about emissions would support natural gas, liquid hydrogen, and nuclear. Anyone who loves humanity would support pro-human ideologies that don’t allow human suffering in the streets. Anyone who supports woman would support motherhood. Women literally exist to give birth to the next generation. That’s our biological role. You really think there are no mental health consequences to mass rejecting biology?? There are absolutely outliers but feminists pretend all women are outliers.
Anyone who supports actual women would unquestionably support women in becoming great mothers and men in becoming great fathers for that matter. Not require it, but certainly support our most basic natural instincts. Rather than giving a shit about the fact most women don’t actually want to be a caricature of men, and the vast majority of men aren’t anything like the monsters feminists claim they are, feminists continue to double down on their failed and cruel ideology that seeks to erase womanhood and replace it with the craziest and most caricatured version of manhood that exist. It isn’t making women happy - it’s making a huge percentage of them miserable.
No, I was talking about his link, not the book (which I think is a great book by the way, and have previously read). So, did you read his link? It did not affirm his position.
I do think capitalism and declining birth rates is a huge problem, but what is clear is once women have reproductive freedom - they don't want as many kids. That is true in countries regardless of women's equality in those countries.. So, it's going to happen. The population is going to decline. And given climate change, I think that it is ultimately a good thing but we have to figure out throughout the world how to deal with the declining population and, of course, one temporary answer is to pro-immigrant as lots of the world - particularly in Africa - would be happy to come and do those jobs.
Anyway, I am not the person who are arguing with - if that person exists! It is not nor never has been a "feminist/progressive" thing not to have children and only be career oriented. Most women - from the left and from the right - do want children and have them. 86% of women, actually, by age 46 in the U.S. (and some are having them later.) I don't know this world you think is happening, at least among second-wave feminists like me. I'm 68, and that is the world I know. Sure some are childless (I am) but most of my friends - feminists all! - are dedicated moms and are happily married. And I happen to live in a very "progressive" town whatever that means - so it doesn't correlate with unhappiness to be on the left and have liberal values any more than being on the right is correlated with unhappiness.
In terms of the misery in the world - mental health challenges, drug addiction and economic struggle - I certainly have seen that in some friends. I know several people in killed themselves, a few who died from drug overdoses, many who have mental health problems or drug problems. However, absolutely none of those were caused by "progressive crap".
As progressive is now defined, I am a centrist. I am here, obviously, because I think gender ideology is insane. Like most who don't buy gender ideology, I also don't buy the anti-racist movement which, in a nutshell, believes in equality of outcome instead of equality of opportunity (as I don't buy that with regards to women either.) I am absolutely pro-nuke. I am deeply worried about both boys and girls, young men and young women in this day and age in all sorts of ways and do think sexuality as expressed by many young people is horrifying. The "sexual revolution" came from different threads, and one of them was feminist. But the casual sexual expression that I read about is absolutely the opposite of anything me or my feminist cohorts wanted or worked for (except some on the fringes). We wanted as most people do: deep connection, love, marriage, and loving sexual relationship within those marriages. And I don't know one woman who has thinks men are monsters! They marry them! Now, I am a lesbian and married to a woman but I love men! I think they are unique and wonderful and have lost of qualities that should be celebrated. And every feminist I know agrees. Hey, there always were some radical feminists who didn't like men back in the day. But they were the vast minority then, and I am pretty sure, now.
Seriously, if you and I got together, I am positive we would agree on most of the problems of the world, and agree on many solutions. It does seem that we wouldn't agree what have caused the problems that exist in the world but that is ok. We just need to keep working towards solutions, and I think being pro family, motherhood, community is certainly part of the picture.
You claim to live in a progressive town, then admit “know several people in killed themselves, a few who died from drug overdoses, many who have mental health problems or drug problems.” Funny you don’t realize the self own that is.
The devoted moms and married self-proclaimed “progressives” you know are also called hypocrites. Happy to watch poor women suffer from broken homes and dependency cycles and destroyed communities while they live the very lives they proclaim publicly to be the problem.
Yes, progressive crap has caused a bunch of these problems.
Oh, and capitalism lifted 4 billion from poverty during my 4 decades on Earth while socialism/ communism directly resulted in the deaths of 100 million in the last century. The biggest problems with self proclaimed progressives is they don’t let actual outcomes or lack of progress get in the way of their destructive ideology.
Lol. Still blaming the people with the least power for the problems caused by the people in power, I see. Kinda pathetic.
Dude. Communism and all of the destruction that came with it was brought about by men. Addictive drugs and the enormous problems they bring were brought about by men. Cities were designed by men. Crime is mostly committed by men, especially violent crime. Men are responsible for the vast majority of the stupid destructive shit you see happening on the internet.
The world has suffered greatly from the lack of feminine influence in decision making. Once again – we do better when we work together.
The women who successfully fought for your right to vote would undoubtedly have been characterized as "unhappy" at the time. As were the women who won your right to work free of discrimination and harassment, your right to financial support from deadbeat dads, your right to equal access to academics, sports, legal protections, and hundreds of other rights that you take for granted but trivialize the efforts of the women who got them for you. Every step of that struggle was characterized by voices like yours, falsely blaming those women for everything wrong with society and for the inevitable downfall that granting those rights would bring.
You've always been wrong, and you're wrong now. But feel free, again, to post proof that feminists have actually espoused any of the horrible positions that you accuse them of.
And if you can't, consider that you might've been fooled.
I don't even need to click on your link to know it's some stupid variation on "Well if they couldn't vote someone else won it for them hahaha err derr..."
Just give it up, you're only digging your hole deeper.
This video is by a PhD researcher on female coercive control of men. Intimate partner violence research shows pretty much equivalent rates of perpetration by men and women. If you really care about working together you will take the time to look into this important research.
Please watch the videos I posted on this thread in response to Hazel-rah. They will probably show you that the feminist rot is a lot deeper than even you suspected.
And here's a bonus video about Erin Pizzey, who organised the world's first women's shelter, which ended up being hijacked by radical feminists. Pizzey had to move to the US from England due to credible threats from feminists.

Please link us to some verified quotes by all these horrible feminists! You must have dozens.
Traditional women in times past were spinners, weavers, milkers, harvesters... Now, because of men's inventions, traditional women have time for other work.
Feel free to provide supporting evidence for all that bashing.
Feminism is about equal respect, period. If you can't show respect....
Feel free to provide evidence that feminism is about equal respect.
Your Mom has feminists to thank for her choices.

I may be wrong, but feminists are overwhelmingly anti capitalist and supportive of the kind of govt interventions that lead to drug problems.

Feminists won the vote for women?

I don't even need to click on your link to know it's some stupid variation on "Well if they couldn't vote someone else won it for them hahaha err derr..."
Just give it up, you're only digging your hole deeper.
This video is by a PhD researcher on female coercive control of men. Intimate partner violence research shows pretty much equivalent rates of perpetration by men and women. If you really care about working together you will take the time to look into this important research.

You assume so much and know so little.
Here's a video about the domestic abuse industry that lays open the power abuses by women.

Did I mention my husband is half Cuban?
Please watch the videos I posted on this thread in response to Hazel-rah. They will probably show you that the feminist rot is a lot deeper than even you suspected.
And here's a bonus video about Erin Pizzey, who organised the world's first women's shelter, which ended up being hijacked by radical feminists. Pizzey had to move to the US from England due to credible threats from feminists.

Hi. Have you read Michael Schellenberger's book San Fransisco?
It's a good insight into how govt policy can grow social problems.
He also gave an excellent talk at the recent Genspect conference in Denver. He's going to be releasing files on WPATH.
Are you seriously trying to say that the Sexual Revolution was driven by feminists? Amazing.
Rule #1 of Misogyny: Women are responsible for what men do.
